Leading Speakers & Individual Thinkers
Since the Ebor Lectures began, some one hundred speakers have encouraged thousands of people to engage with current issues such as politics, religion, contemporary culture, economics, ecology, science, spirituality, terrorism, globalisation, education, and reconciliation.
Speakers – reflecting many different faiths and none – have included respected academics with specialist knowledge, leaders in business, politics, and the media, experts in spirituality and the world’s religions, and those with an important story to tell. Audiences have heard from Christian archbishops, cabinet ministers, Muslim scholars, university professors, Jewish peers of the realm, social activists, award-winning journalists, astronomers, members of parliament, soldiers, eminent historians, peace-workers, medical experts, philosophers, and best-selling authors. You can see the full range of speakers in our archive. The Ebor Lectures are about Public Theology, which means we not only want to hear from "leaders" and "experts" but also benefit from the insights of the wider public. We have encouraged this through audience questions and comments at lectures, our Essay Prize, and our 2020 Visions reflections.
